In 1968, days after the assasination of Martin Luther King Jr., my grandfather took a helicopter ride above Washington D.C. as it was burning from citizen riots. The footage from Washington is Burning was recently captured from the reel my grandfather took up with him on the ride. Shocking and beautiful. All 13 minutes were saved and I've both kept all the original footage intact as well as created a short documentary/music video using a 9 minute chunk of the footage. This is what he saw and what a nation has yet to hear. "Violenve is American as Cherry Pie."
